Adriaan Stellingwerff: Eternal Sunset

A. Stellingwerff: Eternal Sunset

Eternal Sunset creates the experience of a continuous sunset through the use of live images from existing online webcams around the world. As the sunset moves westward, Eternal Sunset tunes into different webcams, chasing the sunset around the globe. Eternal Sunset is a virtual space where time is passing but where the daily cycle of day and night has come to a freeze at sunset; a space where the sun is always going down but never goes under. Complementing the increased efficiency and productivity associated with the internet, Eternal Sunset celebrates the romantic beauty enabled by that same technology. Enjoy that special moment forever!

Linda Wallace: LivingTomorrow

'Displayed as three projections in the gallery, the imagery is composed of a kaleidoscope of green fields, blue skies, popular television and urban environments. These video fragments pivot in and around one another, alternating on each of the three screens. The imagery is cut up, mirrored, re-played and set into visual echoes across the space. In some passages, the video is like patterned fabric gently swaying in tune with the body (occasionally we glimpse the back of a woman’s head covered in a headscarf). At other moments the picture reverberates like an interrupted broadcast signal.' (from the essay of Victoria Lynn)

Robert Iolini: Black Sheep

Through the extraordinary testimonies of aboriginal teenagers we become witnesses to a world in which the interviewees are continually told that they are surplus to requirements. Black Sheep uses materials gleaned from an arts project I was involved with involving young people in and around the notorious Don Dale Juvenile Detention Centre situated in Darwin, Australia.

Daniel Crooks: Train No. 1

The movement deforms the image in a specific way. In such situations we often have a feeling that the image moves in its own rhythm while we stand out. The connection between trains and moving pictures is almost historical.
