Ana Alvarez-Errecalde was born in Bahía Blanca, Argentina. She studied Film Production at the C.E.R.C (Centro de Experimentación y Realización Cinemtatográfica)and obtained a grant to be part of Third World Newsreel in New York City. She now resides in Barcelona, Spain, where she exhibits her creative work both as a documentary filmmaker and as a photographer.
