Born in the Czech Republic in 1974, Deingruber was already showing artistic promise at age 10 when his paintings were selected for the Ostrava exhibition of young painters. Discouraged by the overly academic approach to art education in his country, and the controlling influence of the communist party on the arts, Deingruber moved to New York City at the age of 19 to pursue his work as an artist.
